Description

This data set contains experimental test results carried out in the laboratory of Graz University of Technology, Institute of Thermal Engineering from October 2020 until February 2021. The storage prototype (volume 1 m³) was filled with pure water for the first experiments. After these experiments, the storage was filled with macro-encapsulated phase change material (PCM) (945 modules, 38 % of the storage volume) with the PCM ATS15 from the manufacturer Rubitherm and water. Temperature sensors (Pt100) were mounted at the top and the bottom port of the storage to measure the temperature of the heat transfer fluid (w = water), and in close distance to the volume flow measurement device ProMag50 (Vdot_w). Four temperature sensors were mounted in thermowells equally spaced over the height of the storage tank (T_w1 – T_w4) to measure the temperature of the water in the storage. The ambient air temperature (T_amb) was measured at a height of 1.5 m next to the storage.
