Promoting digital object sharing practices through data stewards

This poster is/was presented at Fellowship of the Data – International RDM Community Meeting 2026
Sharing of digital objects in research remains essential for scientific reproducibility and integrity[i]. Making research data available is increasingly recommended by funders and institutions[ii]. Still, there is a variety in types of research output including computational materials such as software artefacts, models and the associated documentation necessary for the reproducibility of scientific studies[iii],[iv]. Data stewards play a critical role in fostering related open science practices by promoting the formalized use of repositories for all types of digital research output. Thereby additional activities come into play, such as the support of project consortia through the methodical use of research data management tools, just as individual guidance, and – if applicable - the curation of records for archiving or publication.
