Interaction with structural health monitoring data of a tunnel site in a 3D VR environment
Description
The Video shows the combination of 1D strain data and 3D deformation data in a common VR enviroment at the example of a tunnel site.
Abstract (English)
Monitoring tasks demand the recording of data from various input sources to gather all crucial information. The challenge here is the combination of different datasets with different dimensions and different complexity levels. For the monitoring of the construction of a highway tunnel several sensors have been used to acquire datasets over several epochs. Strain and temperature values have been measured with fiber optic sensors to deliver highly precise deformation information with a high temporal resolution at the specific cable location.
The datasets have been embedded into a VR application so the user can move freely through the as-built mesh and investigate the information in the right spatial context. By using the VR controllers, the user can also interact with all the data sets, turn on and turn off information, jump into the 360° panoramas, take virtual notes, mark points of interest and switch between measurement epochs.
